What’s in Your Shampoo? A Cleaner Shampoo Review

Hello Everyone!

I know I haven’t mentioned the upcoming giveaway in awhile but I just want to remind everyone that I will be announcing the rules for entering the giveaway on August 11th and it’ll run until the end of August! The prize will also be announced on the 11th!

However, today we’re talking shampoo!

Which shampoo do you use? I’m urging you to review the ingredients in your toiletries. Even shampoos that appear natural and organic (like the brand Organix) have harmful ingredients that could be effecting your health. Many companies use misleading labels to attract customers to their so-called “natural” products. Once again I recommend using the Think Dirty App to scan your shampoo or the EWG Cosmetics Database to look up ingredients. At the time I scanned my shampoo, I was using the brand Aussie in an effort to save a few bucks.

The Think Dirty App uses a dirty scale from 0-10 that gives the product a score based on the ingredients. The toxins could be hormone distruptors, cancer causing or even contribute to reproductive issues.

Aussie Received —- (9) ALMOST THE DIRTIEST.

In the past I have used Wella, Dove, Redken, Aussie & many other commercial shampoos. The result of using these brands was silky, smooth hair and a dry, itchy scalp. I suffered from a terribly intrusive itch for seriously so long (years)! I recently switched to Acure Organics Lemongrass and Argan Stem Cell Volume Natural Shampoo and Conditioner.

Acure Organics Lemongrass and Argan Stem Cell Volume Natural Shampoo and Conditioner 8 Oz Review

I love, love this shampoo. My skin finally healed and the itching on my scalp completely stopped! My hair was also EXTREMELY clean and shiny! It felt thick, volumous and easy to style. I thought it had a really pleasant, natural aroma as well. You can really see a huge difference in this shampoo when comparing it’s ingredients to products like Aussie. –⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓⇓–

Shampoo: Acai Berry, Blackberry, Rosehips, Pomegranate, Rooibos, Aloe Vera, Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate, Betaine, Vegetable Glycerin, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Cocoglucosides Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Sodium Levulinate, Guar gum conditioner, Potassium Sorbate, Argan Oil, Olive Oil, D-Alpha Tocopherol Acetate (vitamin E), CoQ10, Argan Stem Cells, Avocado oil, Lemongrass, French Lavender, Oakmoss and Rosemary Oils.

& Aussie’s Ingredients

Water, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycol Distearate, Sodium Citrate, Cocamide Mea, Sodium Xylenesulfonate, Fragrance, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Ecklonia Radiata Extract, Dimethicone, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Chloride, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Tetrasodium Edta, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Yellow 5, Red 33

Yellow 5 is totally controversial and studies have already deemed it cancerous. Fragrance could literally be anything since companies aren’t required to disclose ingredients listed under fragrance. Another ingredient with TONS of harmful consequences is Sodium Lauryl Sulfate.

This shampoo and conditioner is a much better, affordable alternative to the shampoos I have purchased at the drug store. I looked up all of the ingredients on the EWG Cosmetics Database because the Think Dirty App didn’t have this product in its database. All of the ingredients were super safe except for Potassium Sorbate, which was given a score of fair (moderate hazard). I find that the benefits of this shampoo outweigh that one ingredients mediocrity. Personally, my scalp has healed and I am no longer suffering from itchy skin! I’m definitely not saying this is the only clean product because there are so many options at all different price ranges! Sometimes it is just overwhelming to decide which shampoo is right for you and I really love this shampoo and conditioner! I tried Acure Organics Moroccan Argan Oil and Argan Stem Cell Natural Shampoo and Conditioner but I did have the same positive experience.
